Formula E makes its debut in the streets of Santiago
Between February 1st and 4th, 2018, Formula E makes its debut in the streets of Santiago for the 2018 Antofagasta Minerals Santiago E-Prix.
This 100% electric single-seater race is the fourth season of the Formula E, but the first competition like this to take place in Chile.
The course runs through the center of the city and will involve areas near The Singular Santiago, Lastarria Hotel. The drivers will line up along Santa María Avenue before crossing the Mapocho River. Once across, they’ll navigate their way around Baquedano Square before cutting through the Forestal Park to return to the finish line.
Stretching 12 laps of 1.53 miles each, the race’s specialness lies in its sustainability as it generates low noise and environmental pollution. These characteristics of electro-mobility are especially important for the development of Chile since these cars are large consumers of copper and lithium, both national products of Chile.
